You find the Brothers Leagues Club Townsville on the inland edge of Townsville. The club has some interesting history. It all started back in 1947 when members scraped up enough money to purchase an old army igloo hanger. It served as the clubhouse for more than 15 years. Now we get to enjoy the modern club due to the fact that the old timers were willing to rough it for so long. Thanks, mates! But the rough times didn't end there. Financial problems and vandalism set the club back until the Bishop in the area helped out. Finally, in the early 1980's, the clubhouse and grounds were constructed. Now the place has a full-scale Circa 20 Restaurant, Qube Cafe Bar, and Bootz Sports Bar. The menu in the restaurant offers up fine pizzas and steaks. There's also a kid's menu so that you can bring the whole family to the club. The cafe serves up pastries and coffees all day long while the sports bar has eight betting monitors, two plasmas for horse racing, two TAB terminals and plenty of plasmas. There's also plenty of gaming. There's a large bingo hall, pokies and keno. It's the kind of place you can hit with a big group to enjoy the games, but it's also the kind of place where you can show up by yourself to make friends in the bingo hall. Membership is only $2 and it gets you all sorts of perks including a courtesy bus.
