Daniel San

Wax on, wax off. That's what Mr. Miyagi drilled into the head of Daniel San in the movie Karate Kid. That movie comes to life inside the Daniel San restaurant in Manly. You can find this quirky ode to the 1980's hit movie right in the middle of Manly Beach. You'll be hit with nostalgia as you walk in the door. The walls are covered with fake Karate Kid memorabilia and handpainted wall art. There are fake karate trophies triumphantly hanging on the walls as well as a handpainted guide to the movie's haircuts. Did you know you can identify the Cobra Kai by their do's? Now you know that info, you'll never forget it and it's Daniel San's fault. Daniel San is a rock and roll bar with Japanese street food, but the street food is presented exceptionally well. Each pretty plate of sushi or tempura is worthy of snapping a social media pic. And the menu is just as cheeky as the decor. This is perfect beach food. It is light, refreshing, clean and fun, just like the waters of Manly Beach. It won't fill you up or (literally) drag you down. The main attraction of the menu is the sushi and sashimi that is power-packed with energizing protein without the grease found in pub food. But, if you want something heavy, there are always the succulent steam buns. This place is a quirky way to get your kicks out after a few hours out in the sun on the beach.
